The Permanent Outdoor Installation (POI) range by SGM

The I-5 RGBW POI is part of a range of IP66-rated lighting fixtures for permanent outdoor installations, in both entertainment and architectural applications. The POI fixtures are based on the familiar standard fixtures – with the same optical performance and electrical components, but optimized for permanent outdoor installations.

They feature extremely bright and powerful colors and a resilient housing to protect them in outdoor environments. Engineered to endure even the most extreme weather conditions, the POIs take on rainy days, icy winters, dusty winds, extreme heat and salty sprays of seawater – eliminating the need to shield off the fixtures to protect them from the elements. Additionally, the P-10 POI’s simple, durable exterior defends it from vandalism.

All POI fixtures come standard with a 5 year warranty. A patented dehumidification processor prevents condensation, which in turn prevents corrosion and ultimately prolongs the lifespan of the electronic components. This technology makes SGM the only true manufacturer of permanent outdoor LED installation products.

With the A-4 RM ArtNet to DMX converter, the POI fixtures become remotely accessible, allowing you to program your show from a remote location, upload it and schedule it on site. If connected to the internet, it works as a remote monitoring device to notify the service provider of any problems in the fixtures. Customization is part of the POI philosophy. The POI fixtures are available in white and black, as well as an array of custom RAL colors, to accommodate the requirements and high aesthetic standards of architects and designers.

Construction

The i-5 RGBW POI is an ultra-compact form-follows-function luminaire designed and manufactured in Denmark. The body and frame is made from extruded or pressure cast marine grade aluminum, Oxsilan ® pre-treated, and powder coated to corrosion class C5-M marine grade and blends in with any contemporary or historical architecture. The front lens consists of impact resistant tempered glass with marine grade stainless steel and aluminum fixings. The scale and fan cover is made of durable material, including impact and UV resistant P6. This fixture also comes with pignose tilt locks and a scale with mark on yoke for easy installation. The pignose tilt locks can be locked in place using the included key, protecting your fixed installations from vandalism and theft.

LED Technology

The compact, rectangular, and full color i-5 RGBW POI incorporates 203 high-power RGBW LEDs, delivering a stunning 21527 lumens. The 203 LEDs are divided into 48 Red, 51 Green, 48 Blue, and 56 White LEDs to deliver a bright and accurate beam projection for long-throws. Each individual lens in the i-5 RGBW POI is related to one R, G, B, or W LED chip only. These optics have been designed to deliver superior color mixing when illuminating structures over long distances. The LEDs expected lifetime is 50,000 hours.

Colors

SGM flood lights are designed to achieve both deep reds and warm pastels as well as blue saturates, bright magentas, and soft turquoises. Additionally, it delivers a linear color temperature control from 2000K - 10000K and best-in-class optical color mixing, with the same accurate color calibration as the entire SGM flood light range, avoiding color shifts.

Optics

The 203 individual lenses of the i-5 RGBW POI luminaire deliver a native 8,5° narrow beam, providing impact at up to 100m/330ft distance, whereas, the wider optics allow for wider uniform coverage. Its beam can be modified with integral holographic filters providing additional four standard options of either 18° or 40° degree wash – or elliptical horizontal 60°/10° or elliptical vertical 10°/60° flat-field even distribution.

Internal honeycomb

All i-5 POI versions are available with integral honeycomb louvre, eliminating spill light and preventing direct insight to the LED.

Custom color mixing

One of the big advantages of the SGM i-series technology is the fact that the user can always select which colors should be present in the RGB color mixing. While the i-5 RGBW POI contains Red, Green, Blue, and White, it is also possible to order an i-5 POI luminaire with only Blue, only Red, only Green, only White, or even UV LEDs.

Mounting options

The universal i-5 RGBW POI wash and flood light can be oriented in any position. Standard accessories include half and full anti-glare shields easily fitted to remove insight to LEDs and unwanted discomfort glare and reflections. Additionally, M-10 bolts are included, which ensures the fixture can be tightly screwed to a surface, protecting it from both vandalism and theft. The M-10 bolts are suitable for any kind of custom-made bracket and are included with all POI fixtures. Omega POI style brackets are also available for additional mounting options. Being fully RDM compatible, the i-5 RGBW is ideal for installation in non-accessible locations.

Control

DMX/RDM is obtained through a 5m/16.4ft cable. Power is connected through a 3 x 1½ mm2 pre-fitted 5m/16.4ft cable.
